Perfect Ten: Sony Pictures Classics Reteams with Almodóvar on “Silencio”

Almost a full year before it likely premieres In Comp at the 2016 Cannes Film Festival (where it will surely compete against his produced Lucrecia Martel film, Zama), the Sony Pictures Classics folks have placed a bet on what they already know is a sure value foreign film item. Celebrating their longtime union with now a tenth feature film pact, Pedro Almodóvar’s Silencio will be released via SPC in the U.S.

Gist: This charts the life of Julieta (Adriana Ugarte) from 1985 to the present day. As she struggles to survive on the verge of madness, she finds her life is marked by a series of journeys revolving around the disappearance of her daughter. SILENCIO is about destiny, guilt and the unfathomable mystery that leads some people to abandon whom they love and about the pain that this brutal desertion provokes.

Worth Noting: Silencio also happens to be the name of the David Lynch designed members only club in Paris.

Do We Care?: Despite the bumpy ride he had with I’m So Excited, we’re eager to see how Ugarte will fit alongside Almodovar’s long list of muses.
