The End We Start From

Her filmography to date was shorts and television and so it says a lot about one’s skillset when a project of this kind becomes one’s first outing. Mahalia Belo was blessed with quite the source material and cast for feature number one. Landing Jodie Comer, Benedict Cumberbatch, Mark Strong and Katherine Waterston, the British filmmaker
moved into production back in May of ’22 with Cumberbatch as one of the producers. Written by Alice Birch (scribe for Lady Macbeth) The End We Start From becomes a high-value acquisitions title – one that highlights motherhood, survival and hope. We imagine this might be within the same vein as The Road and Children of Men.

Gist: A woman who along with her newborn try to find their way home as environmental crisis that submerges London in flood waters and sees a young family torn apart in the chaos.

Release Date/Prediction: We think this title would be heading to Toronto, with possible Telluride and London BFI showcases booking ending a gala premiere.
