Top 100 Most Anticipated Films of 2013: #70. Nat Faxon and Jim Rash’s The Way Way Back

The Way Way Back

Directors/Writers: Nat Faxon and Jim Rash
Producer(s): Sycamore Pictures’ Tom Rice and Doubleyou’s Kevin J. Walsh
U.S. Distributor: Rights Available
Cast: Steve Carell, Toni Collette, Allison Janney, Sam Rockwell, Maya Rudolph and Liam James

A fan of the rare coming-of-age film genre when it actually works, so when you consider this 2007 Blacklist dramedy fell upon an ensemble sees Steve Carell, Toni Collette, Sam Rockwell, Maya Rudolph, Rob Corddry and Allison Janney then the only concern is on the rate of success Nat Faxon and Jim Rash had in translating their A grade screenplay for the big screen. The Descendants wasn’t too shabby and a Sundance berth is certainly a step in the right direction. We’ll see if they live up to what was on the page.

Gist: Over the course of his summer break, a teenager comes into his own thanks in part to the friendship he strikes up with one of the park’s managers.

Release Date: Sundance Film Festival premiere – Premieres section. Should be quickly picked up at the fest – perhaps the title that will fetch the most money. A summer release would be ideal.
