Mrs. Harris Goes to Paris
Anthony Fabian is set to reveal his highest profile project since 2008’s Skin with a revamp of a beloved Paul Gallico novella Mrs. Harris Goes to Paris, a UK production which lensed primarily in Budapest. Headlined by Lesley Manville and starring Isabelle Huppert, Jason Isaacs, Lambert Wilson, Alba Baptista, and Lucas Bravo. Gallico is perhaps most well-known as the author of The Poseidon Adventure, but his Mrs. Harris was a character features throughout a series of his work, and this particular novel was last mounted as a 1992 television production starring Angela Lansbury and Diana Rigg. This latest adaptation was scripted by Carroll Cartwright, Olivia Hetreed and Keith Thompson, produced by Guillaume Benski, Xavier Marchand and Fabian. Fabian’s South African set 2008 feature Skin starred Sophie Okonedo, Alice Krige and Sam Neill and premiered at TIFF.
Gist: Mrs. Harris, a widowed cleaning lady in 1950s London falls madly in love with a couture Dior dress and goes to Paris to acquire one of her own.
Release Date/Prediction: Currently in post-production, Mrs. Harris Goes to Paris could be a return to TIFF in 2020 for Anthony Fabian.
