Top 200 Most Anticipated Films for 2014: #36. Noah Baumbach’s Untitled Public School Project

Date:

Director: Noah Baumbach
Writer: Noah Baumbach
U.S. Distributor: Rights Available
Cast: Greta Gerwig, Lola Kirke, Rob Yang

It received one messily award season nom, but the terribly neglected Frances Ha is still verberating with us. While the pulsating B&W flick was anything but improvisational, where this coat-tail follower is deemed to be more low-key, less controlled and once again features a creative partner of sorts in actress Greta Gerwig.

Gist: Baumbach calls this is cross between “The Great Gatsby” and “Something Wild”. Lola Kirke plays a Barnard undergraduate who aspires to be just like Gerwig’s character.

Release Date: This will aim for a major film fest playdate to attract buyers. Cannes not impossible, where as Venice might be likely.

Interview: Marjane Satrapi & Vincent Paronnaud – Persepolis

The thrill of meeting Marjane Satrapi reminded me of being 6 years old at Disney Land when I met the living, breathing Cinderella. Except Cinderella was an actress with a blond wig and Marjane is the real woman behind her autobiographical graphic novel, turned movie, “Persepolis”. The distinctive mole on her nose and her dark sultry eyes rose off the page and appeared in front of me, smoking and speaking with a French accent.
