2022 Sundance Film Festival Predictions: Lila Neugebauer’s Red, White and Water

Date:

Among the top dozen titles we’re surprised that didn’t drop in 2021 is Lila Neugebauer‘s Red, White and Water. Sure it’s a debut feature but it’s toplined by enormous talents of Jennifer Lawrence. Neugebauer directed off and on Broadway projects and got behind the camera for HBO series Room 104 before moving into feature film with a June 2019 start date in New Orleans. Lawrence was joined by Brian Tyree and aided by cinematographer Diego García and Prod Designer Jack Fisk. Scott Rudin’s name has been stripped from producing credits — we’d be really surprised if A24 decides to not premiere in at Sundance.

Gist: Written by Elizabeth Sanders, Luke Goebel and Ottessa Moshfegh, Lawrence plays a U.S. solider who suffers a traumatic brain injury in Afghanistan and struggles to recover back home.

Production Co./Producers: Eli Bush, Jennifer Lawrence, Justine Polsky, Scott Rudin.

Prediction: U.S. DRAMATIC COMPETITION.

U.S. Distributor: A24.
