2024 Sundance Film Festival Predictions: Nathan Silver’s Between the Temples

Published on

With not one, but two feature films waiting in the gates for a 2024 launch, Nathan Silver has the co-directed Watch Me Drown and a solo outing in Between the Temples in store for fans of micro American indie. The later is a project that wrapped up production this past spring in the state of New York and that has a chance of breaking into the Sundance line-up. Toplined by Jason Schwartzman and Carol Kane and described as “an anxious comedy,” the supporting cast includes Dolly De Leon, Caroline Aaron, Robert Smigel, Madeline Weinstein, Matthew Shear. Written by Silver and C. Mason Wells, this was shot by Sean Price Williams — who is coming of the showcase of his film The Sweet East in Cannes this year.

Gist: It’s the story of a cantor who is locked in a crisis of faith and finds his world turned upside down when his grade school music teacher re-enters his life as his new adult Bat Mitzvah student.

Production Co./Producers: Tim Headington, Theresa Steele Page, Nate Kamiya, Adam Kersh, Taylor Hess.

Prediction: Premieres.

Sales: CAA Media Finance (domestic).
