RT Features’ Rodrigo Teixeira is backing another book-to-film project this time with Rojo filmmaker Benjamín Naishtat. Variety reports that the Argentinean filmmaker will adapt Glaxo (based on Hernán Ronsino’s literary noir novel) with Argentine actor and singer Lali Espósito, Esteban Lamothe, Marcelo Subiotto (from Naishtat’s Puan) to topline, the supporting cast includes Manu Fanego, Alan Sabbagh, Esteban Bigliardi. Production is scheduled to begin this year in Brazil and Argentina – so we are looking at a late 2026 film festival release. RT Features’ Berta Marchiori produces. Santiago Gallelli, Benjamin Domenech and Matías Roveda co-produce.
Set in a small provincial town between the late 1950s and the 1980s, “Glaxo” tells the story of four young men whose friendship is shattered forever when a former policeman and his beautiful wife arrive in the town where the titular factory is located. The film is described as “about desire and revenge, set at a time when a whole country lost its innocence.” Espósito is likely playing the role of the beautiful wife whose arrival disrupts the town’s fragile equilibrium. This will touch upon themes of memory, decay, betrayal and revenge – which will take place thru the decades.
Naishtat most recently directed 2023’s Puan along with creative partner actress-filmmaker María Alché. He wrote the script for Laura Casabe’s The Virgin of the Quarry Lake, which premiered at Sundance back in January.
