Early Sainthood: Bertrand Bonello’s Next Might be “Santo Subito”

Date:

Coming off what many consider his career best to date in The Beast (read our rare perfect ★★★★★ review), Bertrand Bonello recently spoke to Variety and mentioned that he has three scripts in the works but failed to mention that his next project will likely be the one that recently received some coin from in the Polish Film Institute folks. Santo Subito which translates to “Sainthood Now” might touch upon Pope John Paul II who after passing away in 2005, say the crowds chant “Santo Subito!” to demand his rapid canonization. If an early fall September 2025 shoot date were in the card then we imagine the earliest production start date would make for a Venice Film Festival 2026 launch.
