Kelly Reilly Takes a Bite out of the Hilary Brougher Directed “Innocence”

Date:

We had lost sight of Hilary Brougher and for a while now, we lost sight of a project that we figured would be filming any day now. Finally there is a break in this case, while Chloe Sevigny and Abigail Breslin are still attached to the project, Deadline reports that Kelly Reilly is the latest to join the Killer Films backed project. Reilly currently has indie-sized productions in David M. Rosenthal’s A Single Shot and John Michael McDonagh’s Calvary on her plate. In Innocence, Reilly takes on the role of Pam, who moves from school nurse figure to a parental role for the film’s lead character played by Breslin.

Gist: A coming-of-age goth story set in Manhattan, this is based on Jane Mendelsohn’s 2000 teen novel of the same name with a screenplay by Tristine Skyler, this centers on a moody teenager who discovers her elite private school is home to a vampire gang.

Worth Noting: We recently mentioned that “we have some minor complaints, but for the most part thought her sophomore film, Stephanie Daley was a strong sample of making what’s on paper dramatically poignant and the filmmaker framed the subject matters with gusto. Jane Mendelsohn book adaptation.

Do We Care?: We placed the film at the number 56 position in our Most Anticipated Films for 2012 — this will likely be ready around a Sundance Film Festival date in 2013 instead. Hoping for something as strong as Let Me In.
