Adams leaves no ‘Doubt’ as to next role

Date:

I’ve probably mentioned this before, but damn I’d love to be Amy Adam’s agent. The actress is lining up some serious acting fare, dipping mostly in U.S Indie productions. While be catching her on tap toward the end of the calendar year with studio stuff in Underdog,  Enchanted and Charlie Wilson's War, but 08 is her return to Junebug indie film territory – Sunshine Cleaning, Miss Pettigrew Lives for a Day and now, The Hollywood Reporter reports that she is in negotiations with Doubt.   Written by Shanley, this is based on the Off Broadway's Manhattan Theater Club play. Set in 1964, “Doubt” centers on a nun who confronts a priest after suspecting him abusing a black student. He denies the charges, and much of the play's quick-fire dialogue tackles themes of religion, morality and authority. The black student never appears in the play, which features just four characters. Adams will play the pivotal role of a young nun in the middle of a tense confrontation in which a Bronx Catholic school principal (Streep) accuses a priest (Hoffman) of pedophilia.

Production is tentatively set to begin in December with Meryl Streep and Philip Seymour Hoffman already onbaord.
