Emily Blunt, most recently noted for her American-film breakout role in The Devil Wears Prada has entered talks to play the female lead in Bristol Bay Prods. The Great Buck Howard. The Hanks clan (Tom and Colin) and John Malkovich will star.

The film, which recently began shooting in Los Angeles, is written and directed by Sean McGinly (Two Days). The story revolves around a luckless magician and his assistant who struggle to reinvigorate his career. Blunt will play a self-assured publicist hired by Buck Howard (Malkovich) to publicize an event that will put him back on the map.

The 23 year-old actresses first attracted on-lookers in the Pawel Pawlikowski 2004 coming-of-age story My Summer of Love where she portrayed the exotic and pampered Tasmin, a well educated spoiled and cynical teen who meets Mona, whose spiky exterior belies an intelligence and yearning for something beyond her daily life. Complete opposites, their mutual wariness soon gives way to fascination and attraction. We should next she her in Who Killed Norma Barnes? and Revolution’s horror-thriller Frost Bite
.

The Great Buck Howard is being produced by Hanks and Gary Goetzman through their Playtone Prods. banner. Marvin Acuna, Marina Grasic, Steven Shareshian and Jan Korbelin are executive producing, and Jackie Levine is shepherding the project for Bristol Bay.
