Bob Shaye and Michael Lynne have ‘Unique’ Perspective on the Biz

Date:

They weren’t going to roll over and play dead. Retirement was out of the question. After seeing their New Line Cinema being dismantled by the top execs at Warner Bros, Bob Shaye and Michael Lynne are back in the game, opening up outposts on both coasts. Going by the Unique Pictures brand, the new company is aiming at putting out up to a trio of films per year.

For those wondering if the WB fiasco left a bad taste in their mouths…well I’m sure it did, but THR reports that the new production co. will have a first look deal (three-year term) with Warners who’ll also be handling marketing and distribution. Next question: Will what kind of material will they churn out? Franchises based on original material? The next John Waters feature?
