Good Luck, Corsica 72 and Now is Good top 2009 Brit List

A trio of films from last year’s batch (Nowhere Boy, Never Let Me Go and The Debt) that effectively received a greenlight, and are now in the can, and in the list’s inaugural year, Grant Heslov’s Men Who Stare at Goats was the top vote-getter.

I’m not sure what to make from the Brit List. A trio of films from last year’s batch (Nowhere BoyNever Let Me Go and The Debt) that effectively received a greenlight, and are now in the can, and in the list’s inaugural year, Grant Heslov’s Men Who Stare at Goats was the top vote-getter. Now in its 3rd year, the “List” of the most liked and recommended unproduced screenplays in the UK and Ireland is complied by only 40 people in the industry. You’ve got some attention-getting projects among the list below, that I’m sure we’ll be discussing in the near future and the Playlist made a good round-up, but for the sake of getting to the cream of the crop, I’ll look at the top three screenplays instead.

1. Good Luck Anthony Belcher (Ruby Films)
Screenwriter: George Kay
Storyline: A high-concept comedy based on an original idea by James Corden, about a loser who is awarded a week of perfect good fortune by the celestial Department of Good Luck, as compensation for the fact that they previously lost his file down the back of a cabinet. But Belcher discovers that sudden success can be a mixed blessing. Check out the script review at ScriptShadow.
Current Status: Jim Field Smith (upcoming Hard 10) is on board to direct.

2. Corsica 72 (Ruby Films)
Screenwriter: Neil Purvis & Rob Wade (Bond films)
Storyline: A mafia drama that details how a certain type of folk operate in a a country that is just West of Italy. Found this Time article
Current Status: No talent or filmmakers attached at this time.

3. Now Is Good (Blueprint Pictures)
