Hunter S. Thompson’s Rocky Road: Gibney talks ‘Gonzo’ on Charlie Rose

Date:

A couple of nights back, Charlie Rose and guests (producer Graydon Carter, director Alex Gibney and co-founder and publisher of Rolling Stone Magazine Jann Wenner) had a discussion on one of America’s top writers from the mid 60’s to the mid 70’s. On the eve of Magnolia Pictures‘ fitting July 4th release of Gonzo: The Life and Work of Hunter S. Thompson, the show dug into its own archives (featuring an interview with HST himself and a clip of Johnny Depp back in the day when he was promoting Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas.

Gibney didn’t discuss the problems he had with Thinkfilm’s failed campaign and broken promises for Taxi to the Dark Side.
