Magnolia Pictures is Master of Max Winkler’s ‘Ceremony’

Date:

About a month since it’s world premiere screenings at TIFF, Max Winkler’s well-liked indie comedy debut that got a passing grade from just about all critics/bloggers I spoke to, is going to be released in 2011 via Magnolia Pictures. After having seen Ceremony (here is video coverage), my thoughts were that “even if topliners Michael Angarano and Uma Thurman don’t command strong box office indie numbers, there is a genuine likability factor that the top 6 distributors would be dumb to pass up.”

Michael Angarano plays a young man who crashes the Long Island wedding weekend of an ex-girlfriend (Uma Thurman) that he’s trying to win back. Lee Pace plays Thurman’s hubby, while Reece Thompson assists Angarano aloof character in the initial stages.
