Miramax and Rudin prep for a ‘Lush’ book to film adaptation

Date:

You’ve got to love the map that producer Scott Rudin has charted for
himself, today’s book option deal very much reflects on long-standing relationships that one needs to succeed and climb to the top. Variety reports that the producer has teamed with Miramax Films on pacting a deal for New York Times bestseller Lush Life. The deal for book is for mid-six against seven figures.

Based on Richard Price’s novel, this sees a
police procedural in which a restaurant manager and his bartender set out to
walk a drunken friend home on Gotham’s Lower East Side. One of the men winds up
on the wrong end of a bullet, and a murder investigation reveals much about the
city and the characters involved in a mugging gone wrong.

Price will write the screenplay and as the trade pointed out is not the first time that the author has teamed with the producer. Price co-wrote the Rudin-produced pics “Ransom” and “Shaft.”
