Sundance Deal: Focus Features pay top dollar for Bill Shakespeare comedy

In the Little Miss Sunshine category of deals at Sundance – Focus Features has picked up the world rights to comedy Hamlet 2 for a price tag not to far off the $10 million. Variety reports that the the night was filled with “intense negotiations, would mark the biggest bidding war of the festival to date and one of the biggest in fest history”. 

Steve Coogan plays as an overly dramatic drama teacher who attempts to salvage his
high-school theater department by staging a controversial sequel to
Shakespeare’s play.
