The Gist: In Shakespeare’s fantastical thriller the magician Prospero orchestrates spirits, monsters, a grief-stricken king, a wise old councillor, two treacherous brothers and a storm at sea into a fantastical conspiracy bringing banishment, sorcery and shipwreck into the lives of two hapless lovers to stir and seal their fate. Why is it on the list?: Titus…I never saw it but I’m sure we’ll have something that just as ambitiously vibrant and visually lush — it’s been pushed back due to extra special effects coating, I like this might be 2010’s dark horse pic of the year. 

Release Date/Status?: 2010 release with a premiere at either Venice, TIFF or London.
