#79. My Week with Marilyn

Director: Simon Curtis
Producers: David Parfitt
Distributor: The Weinstein Co.

The Gist: The film centers on a week Monroe’s life in the summer of 1956 on the set of the movie The Prince and the Showgirl. Based on the diary of an employee of Laurence Olivier (Branagh), a certain Colin Clark, who was charged with looking after Marilyn Monroe (Williams) when she arrived in London to shoot the film…(more)

Cast: Emma Watson, Michelle Williams, Kenneth Branagh, Judi Dench, Eddie Redmayne, Dougray Scott, Julia Ormond and Dominic Cooper

List Worthy Reasons…: With her perf in Blue Valentine, you can say I’ve joined the Michelle Williams bandwagon…so I’ll be looking forward to her next roles especially a toughie like this one. Add this to the film history buff in me and the fact that I’ve always had a preference for snapshot biopics (where elements of one’s life are covered in less than a month) and I’m officially curious about Curtis’ feature film debut.

Release Date/Status?: Currently in post-production, I imagine this will receive a festival premiere – perhaps the fall and if I had to guess it, perhaps a domestic release in November.
