Before we unveil our most anticipated film of 2011, I figure we might want to emphasize some of the names that most frequently populated our Top 100 Most Anticipated Films list. Here is our version of 10 movers and shakers for 2011.

We started keeping tabs on The Girl Is In Trouble when we profiled indie producer Jen Gatien and subsequently when the film's helmer Julius Onah was named to Filmmaker Magazine’s “25 New Faces” list, yesterday Shadowandact.com showed off a batch of new stills and a synopsis of the feature proving this may well be in the final stages of post-production and potentially ready for the first major film fest of the season.

We have The King’s Speech with a well-deserved total of eight (Best Film, Best Director, Best Screenplay, Best Actor and two Best Supporting Actor nominations) but then you have small treasures that seriously made the grade: both the SXSW showcased Monsters, Tribeca preemed The Arbor received six nominations, while the Sundance displayed Four Lions grabs a total of five. The strongest arc of the film is given to Paul’s wife, played by Mirela Oprisor (Mimi Branescu’s real life wife). For the first half of the film, she is portrayed as pretty boring and almost drab in the way she’s settled into life as a mom, however, once Paul tells her about his girlfriend, she proceeds to light up and dominate the screen for the rest of the film. Muntean maintains balance between the characters here so well. The big knock on her would be that she took any kind of sexiness or excitement out of their relationship, and Paul craved it. Once she hears this news though, she’s very empowered and damn sexy.

Thurman might be more "miss" than "hit" as of late, but if the boyish crush a la The Graduate hits the right notes, this could be TIFF's version of a Sundance hit.
