2026 Venice Exclusive: Poster One-Sheet & Clips for Sebastián Múnera’s Meteorito

Date:

The violence of Colombia’s past has been repackaged as entertainment, commerce and everyday life, but it hasn’t disappeared. Violence that lingers beneath the surface. Working with themes of friendship, loyalty and the ghosts of the past, among the directorial debuts in this year’s Venice Critics’ Week line-up we find Colombian visual artist and filmmaker Sebastián Múnera’s Meteorito.

Produced by Martinez, Mauricio S. Burckhardt of Haus Kino, Valeria Mejia, Entre Acto’s Sebastián Múnera, Abel Villa Romero, Archipiélago Sonoro’s Deimer Quintero Vertel and Pos[T] La Casa’s Rodrigo Ramos the world premiere will take place Tuesday, September 8th. MoreThan Films are handling world sales. We have the poster exclusive plus a pair of clips that Tefa and Nia played by Ángela Cano and Luna Gaviria are shown in backdrops that are potentailly filled with play but are problematic.

Tefa and Nia live in a small town near the Magdalena River, where they raise Nia’s young nephew. Nia persuades Tefa to join her in smuggling cellphones into the regional prison. Their journey leads them through an extravagant amusement park built on the grounds of a drug lord’s former estate. As they wander among water slides, verdant paths, and concrete dinosaurs, disquieting memories whisper in the summer heat. In a landscape where violence lingers beneath every surface, Tefa is drawn toward an inevitable encounter.
