Lackluster Teaser for Roman Polanski’s The Ghost

Date:

Summit Entertainment are in no rush to release Roman Polanski’s The Ghost. If there is one genre that has suffered in the current film-going climate, it is the political-themed thriller. The future State of Plays are dead in the water and I exclude anything that resembles the Bourne franchise. A vessel that includes McGregor, Brosnan and Wilkinson is sure to attract international audiences, but on a domestic front – The Ghost might run into some problems if we judge the film on the little we have to go on with this promo teaser.

Based on the novel by Robert Harris, this tells the tale of a ghostwriter (McGregor) who is hired to complete the memoirs of a former British prime minister (Brosnan). When he uncovers secrets, his own life is put in jeopardy. Harris is said to have borrowed from real-life figure Tony Blair in the creation of Brosnan’s chacter.

Are there any Polanski fans or readers who’ve read the novel that will actually want to see this?
