Thurman plans for ‘Motherhood’

It’s a great time to be filming in NYC, espeically with the film production friendly increase in tax incentives and this May, Variety reports that director Katherine Dieckmann (Diggers) will translate her urban comedy script onto the bigscreen with Uma Thurman in the lead role.

Motherhood is the day in a life of a mother of two who is prepping for her daughter’s sixth birthday party as myriad
urban challenges confront her. Minnie Driver and Anothony Edwards will play Thurman’s best friend and husband. The script makes ample use of the city, there are a slew of memorable, stand out moments and in the end projects itself as a sincere portrait of a mother whose literally got her hands full. Thurman is a top notch player for the part – as a young mother herself. She feels right for the role which with real NYC lingo should play extremely well for female demographics.

Though I’m looking forward to catching the lead actress in The Life Before Her
Eyes
– Vadim Perlman’s flashback friendly film adaption of Laura Kasischke’s book, Thurman has had a line of forgetable film roles (Prime and My Super
Ex-Girlfriend
) and her stock might continue to devalue with the upcoming The Accidental
Husband
.

Motherhood is being backed by Killer Films’ Koffler and Vachon who are producing with Jana Edelbaum and Rachel Cohen for iDEAL. John Wells will exec producer.
