Trailer: Audrey Tautou is Priceless

Date:

For the past couple of years there seems to be a courteous exchange of roles between two French actresses – both dark haired, cute and demographically friendly to the tons of roles that have been written for them. They usual make themselves known via international, multiple territority projects and sometimes the smaller French fair. This tennis match involves Marion Cotillard and Audrey Tautou.

2007 was all Cotillard thanks to her weighty performance the life of tragic French singer Edith Piaf, but this year we have Tautou will play the titular role in Anne Fontaine’s untitled Coco Chanel biopic, but first she’ll grace the screen in a smaller French comedy Priceless (Hors de prix). Samuel Goldwyn Films releases the film this coming March 28th.

Written and directed by Pierre Salvadori, this is set against the wildly atmospheric backdrop of the south of
France, Jean (Gad Elmaleh), a shy young bartender, is mistaken for a millionaire
by a beautiful, scheming opportunist named Irene (Audrey Tautou). When Irene
discovers his true identity, she abandons him, only to find that a love-struck
Jean has no intention of letting her get away. Jean’s comical attempts to gain
her affections gradually evolve into setting himself up as a gigolo at a luxury
hotel, until Irene finally starts to warm to her persistent, persuasive
suitor.
