Cotillard among those to join Mann’s crime drama

Date:

Though it might be set during the depression, La Vie en rose’s Marion Cotillard‘s stock couldn’t be further from a decline. Along with a foursome of young, tough-looking actors to play the roles of the Dillinger gang, Cotillard is joining Michael Mann’s Public Enemies – she is set to play Billie Frechette, the lover of the country’s most notorious gangster, John Dillinger (Depp).

Variety reports that  Channing Tatum will play outlaw Pretty Boy
Floyd,  Giovanni Ribisi will play Alvin Karpis, Stephen Dorff is near a
deal to play Homer Van Meter, and Jason Clarke will play John “Red”
Hamilton. That quartet repped a Dillinger gang that knocked off banks
all over the Midwest during the Depression.

Cotillard has one of those faces that can play many eras – perhaps on the same level as Cate Blanchett’s facial advantages. Shooting begins in March.
