Top 100 Most Anticipated Films of 2008: #81 The Order of Myths

Order of Myths

#81. The Order of Myths

Director/Writer
: Margaret Brown
Producers: Brown and Sara Alize Cross
Distributor: Currently Seeking Distribution

The Gist: Filmed in Brown’s hometown, this doc focuses on Mobile, Alabama, where Mardi Gras is celebrated… and complicated. Following a cast of characters, parades, and parties across an enduring color line, we see that beneath the surface of pageantry lies something else altogether.

Fact: According to Brown, this was originally supposed to be a blend between fiction and non-fiction.

See It: Brown’s debut Be Here to Love Me: A Film About Townes Van Zandt was one of the best docs of 2005, but the timeliness of white and black issue will only be amplified this year with Barack Obama leading the polls for a run at the white house.

Release Date/Status?: Received its world premiere at Sundance about a week ago and should find a distribution deal for a limited theatrical run later this year.
