Today, Variety added a couple of more details concerning Michael Haneke's next project. Tentatively it used to go by the title of ‘The White Ribbon’ and now goes by The White Tape or the Teacher's Tale. Set in a Northern German village before World War I, the project received $400,000 production support from the French-German Film Funding Commission.
Haneke had originally attached actor Ulrich Mühe (who had starred in the filmmaker's Funny Games) – but as we learned this week the actor (who gave a commanding perfomrance in The Lives of Others passed away this past week due to cancer. The script was written by Jean-Claude Carriere.
