When first news broke out that Albert Hughes would be directing, there was a mention of Chris Evans might be toplining the Black List revenge flick, but according to Variety, it is Dominic Cooper (who recently proved he could do gangster with a high pitched voice in The Devil’s Double) who’ll go behind bars for Warner Bros.’ Motor City.
Gist: Scripted by Chad St. John, this follows a small time crook (Cooper) who is framed for a crime he did not commit and put in jail. When he is released, he goes after the persons responsible for putting him there.
Worth Noting: This was listed in the number 18 spot of the 2009 Black List — right behind Chad St. John’s other Black List selected script The Days Before (#10) and right before Buried — which comparably also works with a token idea (one location).
Do We Care?: One of the hottest scribes out there without an actual produced film, we look forward to watching what is indeed a rare exercise these days: a studio film with about as much dialogue as The Artist.
