Eric Lavallée is the founder, CEO, editor-in-chief, film journalist, and critic at IONCINEMA.com, established in 2000. A regular at Sundance, Cannes, and Venice, Eric holds a BFA in film studies from the Mel Hoppenheim School of Cinema. In 2013, he served on the narrative competition jury at the SXSW Film Festival. He was an associate producer on Mark Jackson’s "This Teacher" (2018 LA Film Festival, 2018 BFI London). He is a Golden Globes Voter, member of the ICS (International Cinephile Society), FIPRESCI and AQCC (Association québécoise des critiques de cinéma).

Film Movement Exchange Vows with ‘Helena from the Wedding’

Film Movement announced that they've acquired Joseph Infantolino’s dramedy Helena from the Wedding. The film, which features Gillian Jacobs (Clark Gregg's Choke), Melanie Lynskey (Heavenly Creatures, Up in the Air) and Dominic Fumusa (James DeMonaco's Little New York), will receive a limited theatrical release starting November 12th followed by the usual VOD premiere and DVD club release the following month.

Well Go USA Put Their ‘Fist’ Down on Andrew Lau’s TIFF/Venice Bound Return of Chen Zhen

Doris Pfardrescher's Well Go USA have made what I deem to be their first major film acquisition today, picking up Andrew Lau's Legend of the Fist: The Return of Chen Zhen before (not after) it preems at the Venice and Toronto Int. Film Festival in the coming weeks.

TIFF 2010: Vintage Real to Reel Year Includes: Errol Morris, Gibney, Herzog, Wiseman and Naomi Kawase

Doc programmer Thom Powers has assembled what appears to be a vintage offering this year, literally a who's who from the documentary field with world preems from Naomi Kawase, Errol Morris (see pic), Ondi Timoner, Alex Gibney, Kim Longinotto and Werner Herzog, while adding to the mix a foursome of must see documentaries from Cannes with Charles Ferguson's Inside Job, Patricio Guzmán's Nostalgia for the Light, Janus Metz's Armadillo and Frederick Wiseman's Boxing Gym.
