2012 Sundance Predictions: Tim Kirkman’s Tan Lines

It's been a long dry spell of sorts for helmer Tim Kirkman, who presented anything since Loggerheads - a drama that was included at the Sundance film festival back in 2005. His next feature is a long shot of sorts to break the line-up - a low budget tennis comedy titled Tan Lines. Pic stars Dash Mihok, Cameron Monaghan, Kevin Sussman, Alexie Gilmore and Josh Hopkins.

2012 Sundance Predictions: Ben Lewin’s The Surrogate

I'm thinking of Bardem's perf in The Sea Inside and that there might be some huge payoffs performance wise for thesps John Hawkes (see pic above of Mark O'Brien above) and Helen Hunt in what looks to be the sort of film that Sundance embraces - a thought-provoking film item that has the ability to stir up some sort of debate.

2012 Sundance Predictions: Amy Seimetz’s Sun Don’t Shine

Bar none: Amy Seimetz is the hardest working person in the indie biz. At least this is the impression one can get when counting the number of productions she is involved with. While the majority of her creds come from being in front of the camera, after a trio of shorts in the director's chair, Seimetz made her DIY feature debut midway this year and with a locked picture I'd bet that Sundance will want more Seimetz and make room for Sun Don't Shine in the NEXT section.

2012 Sundance Predictions: Brian Dannelly’s Struck by Lightning

After blasting onto the indie scene with Saved! at the Sundance Film Festival's 2004 edition, helmer Brian Dannelly gravitated towards television and perhaps it make sense that his sophomore pic works from Glee's Chris Colfer's screenplay, and sees Christina Hendricks (Mad Men), Sarah Hyland (Modern Family) with Colfer toplining (see set pic above). I'd peg Struck by Lightning as a possible selection in the Premieres category and worth noting: cinematographer Bobby Bukowski.

2012 Sundance Predictions: Alonso Filomeno Mayo’s The Story of Luke

What's a Sundance Film Festival without Lou Pucci Taylor? I can't remember an edition without his presence. Production may have wrapped up a couple of months ago, but Alonso Filomeno Mayo's feature debut The Story of Luke could be a lock for U.S Dramatic Comp or Premieres slot.
