With a cast that includes Alison Brie, Lizzy Caplan, Martin Starr, Geoffrey Arend and Mark Webber, this would be a perfect item for the Premieres category - let the pre-fest bidding begin.
2012 Sundance Predictions: Coley Sohn’s Sassy Pants
We could have a festival loaded with these kinds of examples...here is one more case of a Sundance accepted short Boutonniere (2009) that got turned into a feature length film. Entitled Sassy Pants, with a backdrop of the prom and the pain associated with it, if programmed Coley Sohn's coming-of-ager comedy will most certainly grab a Premieres category slot and be a prime candidate for Queer Lounge Award and in the same token would be a platform for actress Ashley Rickards to shine.
2012 Sundance Predictions: Colin Trevorrow’s Safety Not Guaranteed
An ad that was popularized by Jay Leno's hedlines segment might just be the winning ticket that Sundance is looking for in its Premieres category. What Safety Not Guaranteed has going for it is a filmmaker making his first fiction feature debut in Colin Trevorrow, lensing from Benjamin Kasulke who unloaded plenty of items in Park City last year and it has a cast comprised of Kristen Bell, Aubrey Plaza, Jake M. Johnson, Mary Lynn Rajskub and Sundance regulars Mark Duplass and Lynn Shelton.
2012 Sundance Predictions: Chadd Harbold’s Revenge for Jolly!
Chadd Harbold got his first taste for the Sundance experience with the 2009 short film, Asshole and now via Brian Petsos' screenplay (he also produces and toplines the pic) will make his feature debut. Revenge for Jolly! has a huge ensemble cast working for it including Oscar Isaac, Elijah Wood, Ryan Phillippe, Kristen Wiig and Adam Brody, this could be a high premium acquisitions comedy that would normally grab a Premieres category showing.
2012 Sundance Predictions: Phil Dorling’s Predisposed
If everything works out as planned, it'll be deja-vu for Philip Dorling and Melissa Leo again as Predisposed, the 2009 accepted short film with Leo playing the character of Penny has been elongated into Predisposed...a drama that might be this year's Down to the Bone for its mother battling addiction portions and which happens to include Jesse Eisenberg and Tracy Morgan. This should be a strong contender for a U.S Dramatic Comp spot at the fest this year.
