2012 Sundance Predictions: Frankie Latina’s Skinny Dip

What will be a sure fire hit only the fantasy film circuit, Frankie Latina's Skinny Dip a vigilante grindhouse pic stands a great chance at playing in Sundance's Park City at Midnight section due to the Danny Trejo effect (the actor was in Latina's debut film Modus Operandi) and the fact that co-star Sasha Grey made the switchover to film in Soderbergh's Sundance bowed The Girlfriend Experience.

2012 Sundance Predictions: Antonio Campos’ Simon Killer

Could Afterschool filmmaker Antonio Campos decide to plant one of my most anticipated films for 2012 in the same lieu where his produced Martha Marcy May Marlene broke out? I certainly hope so especially with Brady Corbet in the driver's seat. Simon Killer would make for a rather strong bid for a U.S Dramatic Comp birth.

2012 Sundance Predictions: Nate Meyer’s See Girl Run

Nate Meyer's 2007 debut Pretty in the Face appeared at the SXSW so the big question is with a name cast, bigger indie budget and some great producing help with See Girl Run find a spot? Quite possibly. Worth noting: fellow North Carolina folk David Gordon Green and Lisa Muskat are executive producers on the project.

2012 Sundance Predictions: Michael Mohan’s Save the Date

Following in the footsteps of a Drake Doremus of going from ultra low budget indie to low budget indie, Michael Mohan parlayed his 2010 feature One Too Many Movies with a 2011 filler and Sundance accepted short Ex Sex with what we hope will be a Sundance preem for his latest, Save the Date. With a cast that includes Alison Brie, Lizzy Caplan, Martin Starr, Geoffrey Arend and Mark Webber, this would be a perfect item for the Premieres category - let the pre-fest bidding begin.

2012 Sundance Predictions: Coley Sohn’s Sassy Pants

We could have a festival loaded with these kinds of examples...here is one more case of a Sundance accepted short Boutonniere (2009) that got turned into a feature length film. Entitled Sassy Pants, with a backdrop of the prom and the pain associated with it, if programmed Coley Sohn's coming-of-ager comedy will most certainly grab a Premieres category slot and be a prime candidate for Queer Lounge Award and in the same token would be a platform for actress Ashley Rickards to shine.
