2012 Cannes Film Festival Predictions: David Verbeek’s Full Contact

Date:

Gist: Verbeek describes the film as a road movie through the subconscious of a US soldier who remotely operated a plane that accidentally bombed a school in Pakistan, and who feels guilty for something he committed in a country he’s never visited.

Prediction: Verbeek showed his tepidly received R U There in Un Certain Regard a couple of years ago, and the lukewarm response might yield a ‘downgrade’ into the Fortnight for this next one. Full Contact is part of the L’Atelier class of 2011, so it will almost certainly premiere in Cannes whenever it’s ready, which is hopefully now.
