2012 Cannes Film Festival Predictions: François Ozon’s In the House

Date:

Gist: With not much to go on, I think In the House might belong to the murky noir offerings in Ozon’s filmography such as Swimming Pool and Under the Sand. The issued one line synopsis goes as such: this is about a professor and the student who comes to threaten the relationships of those around them. Thesps Kristin Scott Thomas, Emmanuelle Seigner, Denis Menochet and Fabrice Luchini (seen in Potiche) star.

Prediction: Shooting on this pic ended in January, and if I was a betting man on this title, I’d think the chances are still a long-shot as the film’s domestic French release date (October) coincides with a potential Venice showing – Potiche was featured on the Lido. No stranger to the festival (he has had five presented in various sections being with A Summer Dress in 96 and a decade later, he had a short called, A Curtain Raiser), if it does find a spot it would situate itself somewhere between a Main Comp or Out of Comp.
