Top 150 Most Anticipated Foreign Films of 2019: #94. My Zoe – Julie Delpy

Date:

My Zoe

Actress/Writer/Director Julie Delpy will unveil her seventh title in 2019 with the drama My Zoe, an English language British-French-German co-production. Gabrielle Tana of Baby Cow Films, Hubert Caillard and Dominique Boutonnat for Electrik Films, Malte Grunert and Andrew Levitas are producing alongside Protagonist Pictures in the UK. Delpy casts herself as the lead with a supporting cast including Gemma Arterton, Daniel Bruhl, Richard Armitage, Saleh Bakri and Lindsay Duncan. DP Stephane Fontaine (of Jackie and Elle, 2016) lensed the feature. An Oscar nominee for Best Adapted Screenplay for 2004’s Before Sunset and 2013’s Before Midnight, Delpy is perhaps best known as a director for the comedies 2 Days in Paris (2007) and its sequel 2 Days in New York (2012). As an actress she’s worked with many international auteurs, including Richard Linklater, Leos Carax, Krzysztof Kieslowski, Agnieszka Holland, Jim Jarmusch, Todd Solondz and Roger Avary.

Gist: Delpy’s script concerns divorced geneticist Isabelle, whose daughter Zoe means everything to her. When tragedy strikes her family, Isabelle must take matters into her own hands.

Release Date/Prediction: Delpy filmed in Berlin and Moscow beginning May 2018. We expect Delpy to be a potential candidate to compete in Berlin 2019.
