2023 Cannes: The Lucky 13 Critics’ Week Shorts Unveiled

2023 Cannes: The Lucky 13 Critics’ Week Shorts Unveiled

And in the Critics’ Week second wave of film announcements, we now draw our focus on the short film competition which includes a firm ten selections plus a trio of special screenings with the most notable name of the bunch being Jehnny Beth the singer-turned-actress (she was the cam girl in Jacques Audiard’s Paris, 13th District) now turned director with her co-directed debut. In our estimation, the Critics’ Week short comp easily goes toe-to-toe with the Short Film Competition for the Palme and they unearthed several filmmaker names who major significant feature film contributions – Julia Ducournau is the first that comes to mind.
