Erwan Le Duc La fille de son

Erwan Le Duc will be reuniting with his The Bare Necessity actress Maud Wyler and has set Nahuel Pérez-Biscayart BPM (Beats per Minute) as the patriarch parenting newbie Céleste Brunnquell in his sophomore film – which began production last week. Also starring Mercedes Dassy, Alexandre Steiger and Camille Rutherford, La fille de son père will eventually move to Portugal after the Paris and Metz. Produced by Domino Films’ Alexis Dulguerian and Stéphanie Bermann. The project was awarded the Prix à la Création de la Fondation Gan in 2021.

Etienne was barely twenty years old when he fell in love with Valérie, and hardly more when their daughter Rosa was born. Then Valerie leaves and abandons them. Etienne chooses not to make a drama out of it, they build a happy life. Sixteen and a half years later, when the father and the daughter will separate in turn, each to live his life, the past resurfaces.

Our Nicholas Bell reviewed Le Duc’s Directors’ Fortnight (2019) selected film: “It’s a logical enough starting point for an increasingly absurd and lightly comedic rumination on a circuitous journey to romantic fulfillment for its central characters. The film’s original title Perdrix, thus named for the family’s surname, is French for ‘partridge.’ While there aren’t any pear trees to speak of, it would seem Le Duc’s potential commentary could refer to the family’s self-inflicted captivity, breaking out of passivity and complacency to discover unanticipated destinies. Filled with strangeness and idiosyncrasy, Le Duc makes fine use of a notable cast for his first outing as director.”
