Professione reporter: Dirty Wars’ David Riker & Jeremy Scahill Team Up Again

In a miss it if you don’t read the fine print, First Look Media (company motto is Entertainment with something on its mind) announced a new addition to their company structure and the good news: they are developing a film script from writer/director David Riker (La Ciudad, The Girl with Abbie Cornish) based on an unreported, certainly hot topic politically infused report from Jeremy Scahill. The pair combined their efforts on the brilliant 2013 docu Dirty Wars.

Gist: Written by Riker, this is based on an unpublished report by Scahill.

Worth Noting: Scahill is the author of Dirty Wars: The World Is a Battlefield, Blackwater: The Rise of the World’s Most Powerful Mercenary Army, and The Assassination Complex.

Do We Care?: We’ve been fans of the investigative/journalistic tact from Scahill (The Intercept has to be one of the best new sources for journalism) and while we’re unsure if this will take on the docu form or fiction shape, Richard Rowley’s Dirty Wars was hands down part of a docu rich year alongside Stories We Tell and The Act of Killing. Integrity alone, this future project will ruffle feathers. Next question: will Riker direct?
