The Burning Plain

#6. The Burning Plain

Director/Writer:
Guillermo Arriaga
Producers: Laurie MacDonald (A Tale of Two Sisters) and Walter F. Parkes (The Trial of the Chicago 7)
Distributor: Currently Seeking Distribution

The Gist: This consists of thematically connected storylines. Kim Basinger will play Gina, the mother of Charlize Theron’s character as seen in childhood. Theron will play Sylvia, who tries to find common ground with her parents after a turbulent childhood. The two narratives eventually converge.

Fact: Arriaga is one of the writers onboard Dallas Buyers Club.

See It: Advance word out of Venice is this is a great first film for Arriaga.

Release Date/Status?: Big splashs in Venice and Toronto might get a distributor into buying mode and a quick 2008 release, but the chances of this are limited. Look for perhaps a 09′ releae instead.
