Coixet and Cruz book time in ‘Tokyo’

Date:

Among the more interesting announcements from the Berlin film festival is the news that Isabel Coixet is re-teaming with Penelope Cruz for a project to be set in the city of Tokyo. The capitol of Japan has become a trendy place to film for foreign filmmakers – I’d say it began with Coppola’s Lost in Translation until recent stuff like Michel Gondry’s portion in Tôkyô!.

Spaniards Cruz and Coixet were in Berlin presenting Elegy (the book to film adaptation of “The Dying Animal”) and should be working out the details for Map of the Sounds of Tokyo. for what will most likely be a 09′ film shoot. In half in English and half Japanese, the screenplay is about an obsessed man who collects
sounds and women.
