NEGADON : The Monster From Mars

Created entirely with CGI, Negadon is Japanese creator Jun Awazu’s loving ode to 60’s Kaiju (giant monster) films.

A creature from Mars manages to find it’s way to Tokyo and proceeds to start busting shit up. A scientist with some heavy emotional issues is all that stands between the threat and world annihilation!

Negadon has some absolutely amazing imagery which I can sum up in two words: grimy noir. Clocking in at a spare 25 mins., the film does a good job of creating a sense of the unknown and thankfully keeps it’s emotional backstory to the minimum required by it’s plot.

Impressive as it is, Negadon by itself may not be enough to renew interest in those old monster flicks but may very well end up blazing a new direction for the genre.
