Gilliam Does Anything for Billy

Date:

After a less than stellar The Brothers Grimm, Terry Gilliam has announced that his next project will be a film based on Anything For Billy, a novel loosely chronicling the young gun-slinging Billy the Kid by Larry McMurty, co-writer of Brokeback Mountain.

The story follows Ben Sippy, a dimestore novelist who enters mid-life crisis and decides to leave his cheating wife and nine kids in Philadelphia to give train-robbing a try in the Wild West, he then gets embroiled in the legendary exploits of the one and only Billy the Kid. I wish I was a “book” reader, ‘cuz I would definitely pick this one up in a heartbeat. Guess I’ll haveta wait for the movie. As long as I don’t refer to Billy as ‘Emilio’ like in my last report, Professor Moore will never know.

Anyone remember that Billy Joel song ‘The Ballad of Billy the Kid’? Man, what a bitchin’ tune. Honestly, I’m only writing this piece to talk about Billy Joel. That guy rocks. I double-dare you to listen to ‘Angry Young Man’ without playing air piano. It can’t be done.
