McGregor and Mulligan ‘Slide’ into Patterson’s Debut

I don’t know you Tristan Patterson. But congrats for hanging in there. After having his screenplay optioned all the way back in 2003, it looks like Patterson will finally get to make his directorial debut with non other than: the next best thing in Carey Mulligan (read my top 10 new faces of Sundance) and veteran Scot actor Ewan McGregor. Killer Films optioned the article several years back along with Di Bonaventura Pictures, and they just got Myriad Pictures on board to package the film for int. sales.

Based on Timothy Ford’s article published in Gear magazine and formerly titled “The Yankee Bandit”, this recounts the life of charismatic charmer Eddie Dodson. His art deco furniture store on Melrose Avenue attracted Hollywood hipsters, but friends were shocked when he was identified as “The Yankee Bandit” in 1984, responsible for robbing 64 banks over nine months. On one afternoon, he robbed six banks in a matter of hours. After Dodson served a 12-year prison term, he became a caretaker for Jack Nicholson’s Malibu home, living in his guesthouse. Then, he was arrested again in 1999 for robbing banks. After serving a three-year prison term, he died last February at the age of 54 of liver failure. The film would be titled The Electric Slide and McGregor would obviously play the title role.
