Rooney Mara Gets a ‘Dragon Tattoo’; Lands Coveted Lisbeth Salander Role

Date:

Not yet know for her physical attributes, her pair of Sundance openers Dare, The Winning Season and TIFF titles Youth in Revolt and Tanner Hall probably didn’t require Rooney Mara to hit the gym, it’s her “look potential” that has landed the game-changing role that should not only do wonders for her abs and butt muscles, but might also land her some of them Twilight series fans looking for a nouveau heroine.

After much ink was spilled on who would be cast as Lisbeth Salander, Mara beat out some European and Aussie talents for what is a three picture paycheck type of deal. If Mara isn’t already hitting the gym, she might want to follow the regiment that Noomi Rapace followed for her work on the trilogy. The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo begins production this fall, with a release date of Dec. 21, 2011 — and it’ll be great to see how David Fincher essentially remakes and/or breaks away from the original 2009 film. Mara next will be next seen in The Social Network and Lionsgate might grab a couple of B.O dollars more if people are really curious about Mara — that film receives an early September release (not too late to change the movie poster creds fellas).
