#92. Don’t Be Afraid Of the Dark

Director: Troy Nixey
Writer(s): Matthew Robbins and Guillermo del Toro
Producers: Mark Johnson and Guillermo del Toro
Distributor: Miramax Films

The Gist: Scripted by Guillermo Del Toro and Matthew Robbins, this is based on a remake of the 1973 ABC TV movie. This centers on a young girl, sent to live with her father and his new girlfriend, who discovers sinister creatures that live underneath the stairs.

Cast: Guy Pearce, Katie Holmes and Bailee Madison.

Why is it on the list?: Del Toro’s prodigy this time out is the helmer behind the short Latchkey’s Lament. I’m not sure if this is a project that’ll make a name for Troy Nixey, but seek out his short on the web and you’ll see why he got the chance to direct this remake.

Release Date/Status?: A 2010 release that hopefully Miramax will get behind in it’s release.
