#28. A Dangerous Method

Director: David Cronenberg
Writer: Christopher Hampton
Producers: Jeremy Thomas
Distributor: Rights Available.

The Gist: An adaptation of Christopher Hampton’s play “The Talking Cure”, this follows the founding fathers of psychoanalysis, Carl Jung (Fassbender) and Sigmund Freud (Mortensen), and their complicated relationships with a brilliant and beautiful patient, Sabina Spielrein (Keira Knightley).….(more)

Cast: Keira Knightley, Viggo Mortensen, Michael Fassbender, Vincent Cassel

List Worthy Reasons…As a filmmaker I’m sure he’s borrowed from both Freud and Jung, so if I was a betting man, I’d say that we won’t be receiving your mainstream biopic here. Re-teaming with Viggo Mortensen (for a third time) Vincent Cassel (for a second time) and the “IT” actor of the moment in Michael Fassbender, I’m sure we can count on three actors to belt out some robust perfs.

Release Date/Status?: The French love Cronenberg. Cannes premiere with a purchase at the festival and a theatrical release prediction for the fall. TIFF premiere is a slam dunk.
