Keri Russell, Alessandro Nivola and Elias Koteas have reportedly signed on to join Sigourney Weaver and Kate Bosworth in playwright David Auburn’s psychological thriller The Girl In The Park. Auburn, who penned the script, is best known for his 2000 play “Proof” which garnered the Tony Award for Best Play as well as the Pulitzer Prize for Best Drama, both in 2001. Most recently the playwright penned the Keanu Reeves and Sandra Bullock flick “The Lake House”.

On October 26, in an unverified blog on ImdB.com, Michael Daniels, stating he is one of the producers of the pic, mentioned:
”The two lead roles of Julia Sandburg and Louise have accordingly been offered to Sigourney Weaver and Kate Bosworth. Director David Auburn offered the role of Julia Sandburg to Jaime Lee Curtis, who was very interested but turned it down because she still wanted to raise her children and take time off from acting. Many actresses have been considered for the role of Louise before it was offered to Kate Bosworth. Evan Rachel Wood was the first [choice] but she wasn’t available for shooting and Anne Hathaway was the second; however, David Auburn didn’t seem too interested in casting her. Finally we gave the role to Kate. The script has already been done and it looks amazing. As for the release date, its bound to be released in 2007 but most likely since the story takes place in winter it will probably be out in December. But from what I know its going to be out nationwide towards the end of 2007 which isnt too bad.”

The newest trio comes to the film fresh from other successful projects. Nivola was most recently seen in “Junebug”, Keri Russell joined Tom Cruise in “Mission Impossible III” and Koteas played one of the key figures in Terrence Malick’s “The Line Red Line”.
