Micmacs, Soul Kitchen, The Good Heart and Up in the Air Added to TIFF

Among the most anticipated titles we have is the Micmacs film from Jean-Pierre Jeunet, a comedy that I thought was pegged for a Venice world preem but instead is showing in Toronto first. We have a friends of the festival in Dagur Kari who returns to TIFF with the Paul Dano and Brian Cox pairing and Fatih Akin will jump from Venice to TIFF with his first ever comedy in Soul Kitchen.

With Cure and Circle in Limbo, Cronenberg Moves to the Cosmopolis

With The Talking Cure and The Matarese Circle (among a half-dozen projects Tom Cruise is considering) in limbo, David Cronenberg and his Toronto Antenna Ltd. and his Paulo Branco's Paris-based production house Alfama Films will co-produce Cosmopolis for a shoot next year in cosmopolitan cities of New York and Toronto.

The 2007 Blacklist Update: Where are they Now?

The Blacklist (a list of favorite unproduced screenplays making the rounds in Hollywood created by Franklin Leonard) acts as a good indicator of the best original ideas to come out of agents/rep offices and to come out of an industry which is too dependent on sequels, prequels and remakes. So far, we are past the midway point of 2009 and I was curious to update the 2007 list and see, mostly what went into production and which of the top tier scripts were greenlite.
