Dear Wendy tells the story of the 18-year-old Dick (Bell), who lives in the poor mining town of Esterslope in the Mid West. He is regarded as a bit of an outsider, and one day he happens upon a small revolver, which he despite his pacifist views is drawn to. He names it Wendy, and soon attracts the town's other youthful misfits to a gang he calls the Dandies. The group gives them strength and a sense of identity, not least because of their personally named weapons, which they know all there is to know about but have sworn never to draw, according to the first and most important Dandy rule. But even a Dandy can get into a predicament where rules are there to be broken and a greater, more important principle is at stake. Pill is set to play Susan, a friend of Bell's character, who is a loser often lost in a world of her own.
